Wax As A Top Coat For Chalk Paint

As much as I love polyacrylic as a top coat, wax is very protective and can be a lot of fun to work with too. Chalkmountainpain.com carries polyacrylic and all types of different wax. There are all different colors as well as hemp seed wax. In this video I demonstrate how to apply Chalk Mountain wax in the color "Pearl." I use Chalk Mountain's palm brush to apply the wax.

Once I have finished painting and sanding(including any distressing), I will apply a good amount of wax to my palm brush and go in circular motions being sure to cover any and all painted area. I will let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes before I wipe it all down with a dry absorbent rag. I will then let it sit for about 12 hours before I wipe it all down again with a clean dry absorbent rag. It takes 2 to 3 days to cure. This particular color wax leaves a satiny, metallic finish and looks absolutely beautiful in person. I personally love Chalk Mountain brand products. Their wax particularly is smooth and easy to use!
