Wow! What a wonderful experience this has been. I am not sure if it was a lack of confidence in myself or that I really had no clue what I was getting myself into but blending chalk paint seemed so far out of my reach. In the end I had so much fun!
I started painting furniture a few years ago and instantly fell in love with the whole process. Finding a piece of quality, wood furniture at such low prices, or even sometimes free, is the best feeling ever. Knowing I have the ability to turn it into something wonderful. I love the repairs, the sanding, the cleaning, the painting, the distressing, all of it. It brings joy to my heart. With that being said, I also struggle with coming out of my comfort zone with certain techniques. I am not sure what got into me but for months I have been putting a lot of thought, time, and energy into processing how to blend two colors in chalk paint. This may sound silly to some more experienced artists, but for me this was a big step!
I thought it would be fun to take you along with me so I recorded myself through the blending process on two French Provincial nightstands. Bear with me, taping this experience is not the easiest thing I know how to do but feel free to take a look.....
I must admit this was so very much fun. I will definitely be trying it again and recommend it to anyone who has not tried it yet. For my first time, I am thrilled with the results!!
I used #31 and #34 from www.chalkmountainpaint.com Which by far is the best chalk paint out there, not to mention, reasonably priced! Check them out, they have more than just paint.
